He hoped that William would behave himself, because honestly, he was starting to regret bringing the normal-colored Wooloo along.

Maybe he should’ve brought Smokey instead, but then again Smokey was more… uptight and… less sociable as compared to the #1 shit disturber that was with him right now, so…

William it was.

Whoever his next ‘date’ for the evening was, well, they hadn’t arrived yet so…

He snuck a couple of macarons off the dessert plate.

He was getting hungry, you know!

As Alexei reached out for some dessert, a white paw seemly appears out of thin air. Then, several macaroons were swiped off the platter in the blink of an eye! Though there's no room for mystery, not long after the culprit is raised up in their trainer’s arms. A kind expression settles on his face.[break][break]
“Oh, here’s our table! Good work, Sirius.” Lux smiles and takes his seat. Sirius, his Meowstic, sits on the table with his collection of sweets, happy as a Shellder.[break][break]
“Sorry for the wait. It g-got more crowded than we anticipated. My name is Lux. It’s nice to meet you.” His violet gaze then travels over to the darling little Wooloo. How cute.[break][break]
“I was a bit surprised how welcoming and inclusive this event is to Pokemon, well- not that i’m complaining. Are you a trainer as well then? Or is he more of a pet?”[break][break]

The Wooloo let out a surprised noise as some of the macarons seemingly levitated before disappearing—and the culprit owned a white paw.

Definitely not William, because Wooloo weren’t part-Psychic! (Plus most Psychic-type moves they could learn were just status changes, so there was that.)

And then the culprit of the hour showed themselves—an easy sight on the eyes!

“Nice to meet you, Lux. You can call me Alex,” he remarked as the other took the vacant seat before going right into things.

“In this troublemaker’s case, he’s more of a spoiled lap-Wooloo,” he remarked with a chuckle, before William bleated loudly; approving of that description. “But I am a trainer as well. How about you? What do you do for a living?”

“I’m a Pokemon ranger! And this little guy is my partner on just about half my expeditions. Although we’ve been together long before my career change.” Since childhood, in fact. While they may bicker, the two shared an unbreakable bond. [break][break]
“We also deluge in contests from time-to-time as well. Sirius loves the spotlight.” As does the trainer, but they’re too shy to admit such a thing. He internally cackled at the last statement.

“I’ve taken some challenges, here and there… the queues are crazy, lemme tell you,” he replied with this mysterious smile on his face.

He wondered how long it would take the other to figure out he was talking with one of the Gym Leaders…

At the mention of contests, it had been a while since the last ‘themed’ contest he’d actively entered (hello Zac Ramsay and the wacky biomes) and participated in.

And now that the other had mentioned that he was a Ranger, ooh…

“Which city are you working out of? I mean—there’s a Ranger outpost in Fortree, but the biggest ones I’m aware of are down at Slateport and Lilycove,” he added.

“I really wanted to bring my Braviary, but he’s out elsewhere running errands for the Sanctuary,” he went on with an embarrassed laugh as he grabbed another few macarons and began munching on them.

“I can imagine.” he laughs lightly in response, clueless to the fact that he is, in fact, talking with a gym leader. [break][break]
“And I tend to hop between the outposts wherever I'm needed, but I’m stationed in Fortree a good portion of the time.” Their speciality was forest terrain, after all. He spent a good portion of his childhood with his parents in different types of lands. [break][break]
Lux also grabs a macaroon from the plate, one that matches his eye color, violet. [break][break]
“Braviary! That’s a beautiful avian Pokemon. I’ve never seen one up close before.” He smiles. “Would it be too bold to ask to see it sometime?”[break][break]

If there was one way to get Alex started, it was this.

(Merely asking him about any of his avian Pokémon. Or William. But William is a completely different monster entirely.)

“Oh, definitely, in fact I’m surprised you haven’t heard of the Fortree Rescue and Treatment Sanctuary,” he remarked, reaching into a pocket for one of the many calling cards he always carried around with him.

Just as he was about to go on a tangent and tell Lux all about the myriad of avians that lived at said Sanctuary, the bell dinged, and he groaned.

“Why do I always have to be cut off by that bell?!” he grumbled, hissing for all of five seconds before sliding the calling card across the table.

“There’s the address of the Sanctuary, and my number’s on the back.”

The Wooloo by his feet bleated and got up, pulling slightly at the hem of the long scarf that trailed close to the floor.

“Yeah, yeah, Will, I know…” he said to the Wooloo as he stood up and grabbed a couple more macarons for the road.

“It was nice meeting you, Lux!”

Should the other flip the card over, it would reveal an image of the Skyrider badge, along with Alexei’s name and contact number…

Fortree Rescue and Treatment Sanctuary? Now he’s definitely interested to learn more. Anything that benefits Pokemon for the better really he’s very interested in. Before he can say anything more the sound of the bell ends their date. Seems like Lux also shares the sentiment of good things coming to an end much too soon. [break][break]
